D&D DICE FEATURES INTERVIEWS OTHER GAMES POLL RANDOM

D&D Moms

It's Mother's Day here in the U.S., so we thought we'd do a quick line-up of some of the more memorable matrons from our favorite 5E campaign books.

What type of mom are you/do you have?

Goth Mom
Danika Martikov, Curse of Strahd

Dealing with a husband who comes from the raven-hearted Martikov family gives new meaning to the issue of in-laws. But underneath all of the family secrets, strange toys, and oddly well-kept rooms, this macabre matriarch is undeniably holding it down. Momming ain't easy; momming in Barovia is a whole other level.

Mother of the People
Sibonseni, Tomb of Annihilation

As shown by countless English Lit teachers and crazy cat ladies: you don't need to have children to be a mother. Part Beyoncé, part Eva Perón, chief priest Sibonseni shows all of Port Nyanzaru what it is to love and to lead. Dubbed Mother of Prosperity, it's no wonder her temple's charitable work draws so much adoration from the people. Just don't pay attention to the cost of her parades through the city...

Dead Mom
Petra Solmor, Ghosts of Saltmarsh

Poor, perished (probably poisoned) Petra was the center of her son Anders' world. But being dead as a doornail doesn't mean you can't continue to raise them right. Her current situation may not be ideal, but being a beacon of strength and responsibility from beyond the grave is pretty impressive.

Cookie Mom
Nimsy Huddle, Rime of the Frostmaiden

Straight up? Nimsy's my pick for best mom. Out on the frigid tundra that is Icewind Dale, this tiny woman is the town speaker for Lonelywood, raises four children on her own, AND has freshly baked cookies and a warm spot by the fire to share when you show up unannounced. I don't know what kind of halfling magic is keeping her on her game, but whatever it is, it's working!
