In real life, most of us would feel much better at a safe distance, with a ranged weapon, behind a steel wall or two. However, since dungeon delving is literally the name of the game, melee weapons are a must-have in D&D.

A 13.6% majority said their martial melee weapon of choice was the rapier!
Since it's clearly one of the least cool weapons available, I'm going to have to assume it got your vote because it's so common.
Now, I'm wondering how many hits from a warhammer it would take to obliterate a rapier...
