D&D DICE FEATURES INTERVIEWS OTHER GAMES POLL

Standard v. Signature v. Original Dice

"Why are these dice cheaper than these dice? Are these dice for babies?!"

The six of us spend a lot of time thinking about, talking about, and designing dice, and even we had to sit down and think about how to answer this. Thusly, we've outlined our three dice tiers below, for the sake of knowledge! Yay, knowledge!

#1 - Standard Dice

Starter Sets = Standard Sets. Your basic, tried-and-true, 7-piece polyhedral dice set. The only thing you need (other than a pencil and paper) to sit down at a table and start playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Standard sets are produced in bulk by manufacturers, so you can often find matching sets at multiple dice companies. Our Standard dice offerings include Mystery Starter Sets, most of our Wee Lads, all of our Pip-Squeaks, and they can also find their way into other Mystery sets or Pounds.

#2 - Signature Dice

There's soooo many dice in the world! Isn't it glorious!? A lot of dice brands (including yours truly) use a Signature font or logo to set their dice apart from the crowd. It's also a great way for players to keep track of their favorites at the table!

Additional dice shapes help to customize sets, like we've chosen to do with all of our 10-piece sets by including a Signature Infinity d4 and chonky d20. What can we say? We like being different.

#3 - Original Dice

Dice Envy is a company run by dice goblins, for dice goblins, so here's where we have the most fun. Dice Envy Originals are designed from the ground up, starting with crude drawings on the office whiteboard, making their way into a vector-based drawing program, and often ending up as a 3D model to use for mold creation. First runs of Original dice are typically sent out in our Subscription Boxes, and we're pretty sure we're the only subscription box that does this!

From Three Kobolds in a Winter Coat to Warp Speed Delta, our Dice Envy Originals are our most beloved creations, filling our little dice goblin hearts to the brim with pride.

There! Now you goblins have the power of knowledge to help you navigate this wonderful world of dice. Good luck, and happy rolling!
